Third Parties and How We Disclose Your Information

Some features of the Website and Services, such as payment processing and accounting and client document tools, are provided by third-party platforms. We do not control third parties' tracking technologies, so please review their privacy policies. The Website may also link to other websites; this Privacy Policy applies only to our Website.

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction. We may disclose personal information as follows:

  • Service providers. We share information with the secure third-party platforms we use to run our business, such as payment processing, accounting software, and client document and workflow management. They may use the information only to provide services to us.

  • Legal and safety reasons. We will release information when appropriate to comply with the law, respond to legal process, enforce our site policies or agreements, or protect the rights, property, or safety of us or others.

  • Fraud prevention. We may use and share information as needed to detect and prevent fraudulent transactions.

  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

  • With your consent. We share information for other purposes when you direct us to or give us your consent.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your client financial information with third parties for their own marketing.

Where we operate. We operate in the United States and serve clients only in the United States. The Website is not intended for use outside the United States.

How We Store and Protect Your Information

We store and process your information on reputable third-party platforms that use industry-standard security measures, such as encryption. We have also implemented measures designed to protect your information, including:

  • Our third-party payment processor processes and encrypts payment information, and we do not store full payment card numbers.

  • We keep client financial information in secure, access-controlled platforms, and limit access to those who need it to perform the Services.

No transmission over the internet or by email is completely secure or error-free, so please keep this in mind when sending personal or financial information to us.

Retention. If you visit the Website but do not contact us or engage our Services, we do not retain your personal information. If you contact us or subscribe to our newsletter, we keep that information for two years after our last interaction with you, then delete it. We keep client records for seven (7) years after our engagement ends to meet tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping requirements, after which we delete or securely destroy them, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Your California Privacy Rights and Opting Out

If you are a California resident, California law may give you additional rights over your personal information. To learn more, visit oag.ca.gov/privacy/ccpa.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents may opt out of the sale of personal information about them or their household. This right is subject to exceptions; for example, it does not apply to information shared with service providers so they can perform business functions for us. In the preceding twelve months, we have not sold personal information, and our policy is that we do not and will not sell your personal information. You may contact us at support@tresbookkeeping.co with any opt-out request.

Marketing opt-out. If you have signed up to receive marketing communications from us, you may opt out at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing support@tresbookkeeping.co. We will not use or disclose your information for marketing purposes without your consent where consent is required by law. Opting out of marketing will not affect service-related messages about your account or engagement.

  • Right of access: to see what personal data we hold about you.

  • Right to rectification: to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
